Aggregate Base Depth
Typical aggregate base depth for commercial lots is 2-3” in base with 1.5-2” top. For industrial lots that see heavy truck use, it’s 3” base with a 3” top. Insufficient base depth under heavy commercial loads causes the surface to crack and shift.
Compaction
Base material must be compacted to the correct density. Improper compaction leaves voids that collapse under load, causing cracking and settling.
